What the heck is a cantilevered fretboard?
It’s where the fretboard hangs over the fretboard extension. When mounting the pickguard there will be a gap from the edge of the fretboard to the wood underneath (extension) for the mounting pins. We started doing most of our pickguards with a cantilever ready mounting strip. The strip extends out from the pickguard a bit. It allows you to customize the fit to the fretboard extension a little or as much needed. We also allow a generous thickness of the mounting strip to aid with the pin location.
